Often times we rely on ourselves to produce desired results without asking for outside support. It's as though we're walking and pushing ahead but because we have our heads looking at the ground, we don't realize we've actually run into a roadblock and aren't going anywhere. Coaching provides the perspective of lifting our heads to see what's blocking us and provides us with feedback so that we may move full speed ahead. Let's see where you can go! Is coaching over the phone just as effective as coaching in-person? Absolutely! The key to an effective coaching session is to be as physically and mentally comfortable as possible with minimal distractions to allow you to focus on your own intuition and feelings during the session. You're going to be much more focused on the coaching session when you don't have to worry about planning a babysitter for your children, getting dressed for the weather, driving, finding parking, getting to your destination on time, etc. Phone coaching is ideal for busy moms! Why can't I just ask my friends/family their advice for free? As you can probably imagine, sometimes it's hard for friends and family to be supportive when you make changes that affect your relationship with them. They may instead unwittingly encourage the status quo and discourage your new ideas. They also may not be as engaged in your story after you've initially shared your concerns. And they may have difficulty suggesting creative solutions, perhaps nudging you to follow their advice rather than supporting your own ideas.
I know what I want to do. Why can't I do it on my own? That is a great perspective and shows you are ready and willing to take action! As a Life & Career coach, I can help you stay accountable to your commitments so that your dreams become reality. For example, you can lose weight through exercise, but you may achieve those results faster with a personal trainer. It's the same idea when you hire a coach. In other words, it's like hiring a personal trainer for your career.
Are there alternatives to 1:1 coaching sessions? Consider participating in group coaching, which is a cost-efficient alternative to 1:1 phone coaching sessions. This format invites perspectives of participants with similar needs to have an interactive coaching experience. Each session could be modeled according to various themes such as, negotiating a flexible schedule, partnering with another mom for a job-share position, telecommuting in your current position, considering a part-time job, or even launching your own home based business. Please eMail me if you are interested in a group coaching session, and what topics are of interest to you.
What if I don't have the time for coaching? Indulge yourself by saying, "I'm #1! I'm #1!" It's a shame that the last time we cheered like that was at a school pep rally. Again, we can look at where you're spending your time so that you can commit to taking actions leading to a rewarding career that complements your family life. Commit to putting yourself first for just 60 minutes per week.
A balanced career and family life? Yeah, RIGHT! Imagine for a moment you have just received a million dollars. Now what would you do with your time? How do you feel? Would you like to design your life to make you feel this good? Do you want to look back and say to yourself that I paid the bills did what I had to do? Or do you really want to make the leap and design a career that fits your life!
Contact me for an initial coaching session and we'll determine a Coaching Package that fits your needs.
